HTM08-01 and BREEAM Acoustic Design
Blue Acoustics provided a full acoustic design solution for Hatherton Medical Centre in Walsall. The centre includes over 50 consulting rooms with associated ancillary spaces and seminar / meeting rooms. Insul9.0 and SonArchitect acoustic design software was employed to build a model of the site room by room, partition by partition. The clients material choice was used in the design of each partition, floor, ceiling and roof element to ensure HTM08-01 compliance throughout.
Extensive noise monitoring was also carried out to measure the high traffic noise levels directly outside the site, and glazing and ventilation recommendations provided to ensure proper IANLs were achieved, an important feature of a modern healthcare facility.
BREEAM accreditation was also an important factor within this development, and through close liaison with the projects BREEAM officer, these considerations were incorporated into the design.
A plant noise assessment was also carried out to satisfy planning conditions, with mitigation designs provided to control the noise impact of all associated plant on the surrounding residences.
